We sure are delighted with the news that Samsung gave a thought of releasing their own version of Windows Phone 7 smartphones in their series of Android and Bada phone collection. What’s more pleasant to see is they bring in two from their stash. Unlike the only one we knew before, in which we thought it would be the Cetus / i197 phone, which turns out to be the Samsung Focus.
We covered the Samsung Omnia 7 and Samsung Focus earlier today and it’s a no surprise that the Omnia 7 got the longer end of the stick in terms of the form-factor and better features like 720p HD recording capability. For the Samsung Focus, we already assume it will have a 1GHz chip since all of the other eight WP7 phones that were released today have that type of processor. But somehow, Samsung felt too shy to reveal Focus’s own press-release statement. Leaving us wondering if its’ really under-powered or not? Anyway, according to the earlier impressions, the WP7 platform performs wells on the Focus phone. So I guess it’s not really that bad.
By the way, Samsung Focus will be available under the carrier AT&T for 199 USD with a contract plan on November for a US release. While in some surprising turn of event, the Samsung Omnia 7 seems to be first landing in these carriers Orange (France and UK), SFR (France), Movistar (Spain), Deutsch Telekom. Probably its US release date will be delayed unlike the Samsung Focus
