Samsung Electronics may introduce its S-Cloud service in August this year to have its own cloud service and compete against Apple’s iCloud. However, it appears that the Korean company is not yet ready for launch this online service anytime soon.

According to recent reports, Samsung has changed its plan with regards to creating a global cloud infrastructure using the company’s SDS’s “S-Cloud”. Their S-Cloud infrastructure was created using the Samsung SDS but the infrastructure that was created by the subsidiary was actually unbefitting for the global market. As such, Samsung Electronics is expected to make use of the technology that has been developed by other solution companies.
Due to service stability, the Media Solution Center of Samsung has focused on establishing the infrastructure through the utilization of proven commercial solutions. Currently, Samsung is reviewing KT, which operates cloud services within Korea, allowing with other software and virtualization companies at a local and national level. Samsung has also made plans to work with Amazon for a number of service areas.
On the whole, it is highly likely that the official release for the company’s cloud services will not push through due to the plans of the company for modifications in their global cloud infrastructure. Because Samsung has more products compared to Apple and has utilized the open Android OS, the company will need more sophistical technology in supporting their cloud services.
