With the International CES 2012 happening today, you can expect great gadgets from different companies, with Samsung as one of them. Despite being in the middle of the school year, Samsung has come out with back-to-school, mid-range laptops that pack a bunch despite being overshadowed by their Series 9 and gaming laptops.

The Samsung Series 5 notebooks come in 15.6 and 17.3 inches and are built for students who always work on projects and presentations and turn their laptops on once in awhile. These students are always on-the-go and they need their laptops everywhere. It’s a good thing that the Samsung Series 5 has specs that cater well to the students.
The display has the same matte and 300-nit display that the company uses in their new ultrabooks and has a screen resolution of 1600 x 900 for the 15-inch, while 1080p for the 17 inch. Both variants will sport Core i7 Ivy Bridge processor and has a 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 650 M card with Optimus. Other specs include: a hard drive storage of 1TB (with 2 TB for the 17 inch), JBL speakers, multiple USB ports, an SD memory card slot and an optional Blu-ray drive. The keyboard is also student-friendly because they are sturdy.
That is all that Samsung will tell about the Series 5 laptops and no word yet on when they will be available to the public. The price is said to hover around $799 to $1,200, according to the company – which is a good news for budget-conscious techies. Let’s hope Sammy does keep its word.
