iPhone cases can provide much needed protection for the handset but the majority are still vulnerable to cracks due to accidental drops or slippage. Luckily, car manufacturer, Nissan has finally introduced a unique Scratch shield iPhone case that has a magical self-healing ability smoothing out scratches all by itself.
The patented scratch-healing paint technology was first introduced by the automobile maker on its vehicles back in 2009 before licensing it to Japanese carrier, NTT Docomo. The secret lies on the Polyrotaxane-based paint layered over an ABS plastic shell that protects the device from scratches through a chemical reaction.
The gel-like flexible coating fills the gap in as little as one hour up to a week depending on how deep the scratch is. In addition, the Polyrotaxene paint layer adds more grip to your hands avoiding accidental drops. Also, the paint is tough enough to withstand cracks and bruises to begin with and thus, giving your iPhone 4S case that showroom finish for a long time.
For those who are interested to get one now, you have to wait a little longer. Reportedly, Nissan is planning to take its prototype Scratch Shield iPhone cases to Europe later this year, aside from its native country. Pricing is yet to be determined, as well, so stay tuned.
