You might get the impression that AQUOS is the brand given by Sharp exclusively for its LED TVs. As of today, it seems that line will also be synonymous for the company’s latest Android smartphone, featuring the SH-12C that will be available on Japan this week.
To be more specific, this new handset is called as Sharp Aquos SH-12C, and it will pack 1.4GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 CPU running Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), and it will be displayed on its 4.2-inch qHD 3D screen w/ 540 x 960 resolution. Meanwhile, it’ll have an 8MP shooter camera capable of recording 3D videos and take still pictures + 2MP front-facing cam; an expandable microSD card slot for its storage, and it has this LAN-feature that can connect with AQUOS LCD Television, along with some WiFi tethering capability for other devices.
Other goodies include, an HDMI connection for streaming media on external devices, WiFi b/g/n support and “TapFlow UI”. If you are interested, you can preorder this smartphone on Saturday (May 14) and expect its release date on May 20, landing with an unknown price on Japan’s NTT DoCoMo carrier, available in Black or White.
Last November, Sharp revealed its latest series of Galapagos handsets packing with a high-end image sensor; although it didn’t manage to become popular in Western countries due to some glitches. Hopefully, the case will be different on the new Aquos phone.
