Galapagos is a series of e-book reader tablets that comes in two types—the mobile type and the home type. The mobile type is a 5.5 inch device with a 1, 024 x 600 pixel LCD monitor, while the home type is sized bigger—10.8 inches, with 1,366 × 800 pixels. The mobile type would let its user enjoy reading e-books as if reading an actual pocketbook. On the other hand, when using the home type, reading e-magazines and e-newspapers is like doing it for real, only that you don’t have to flip paper (and no worries of a paper cut for that matter). Both types also come with a Communication function Wireless LAN (IEEE 802.11b/g).

Now what is Sharp Galapagos exactly for? Mainly, its intention is to cater to the bookworms inside people’s hearts. It will serve as terminals to more or less 30,000 magazines, books and newspapers, which are the products of the E-bookstore service that is scheduled to be launched this December. Details of the service, such as the price, are yet to be disclosed in a separate statement from the company itself.
