And the list goes on for tablets wanting to be owned in the market. Apparently, Sharp has launched a new slate in town and it’s the RW-T107 which is said to be the first-ever NFC-enabled tablet.

This new 7-inch tablet runs on Android (to be specific it’s Gingerbread) and is destined to make payments in the land of the rising sun more easier (thanks mainly to the NFC reader embedded on it). Features are quite sketchy at the moment but mere observation of the tablet suggests that it has a microUSB port, HDMI port, SIM card slot, speakers and headphone jack.
And since it has NFC, it is not literally that you will use the tablet to pay or purchase, instead, there are point of sale apps that will be used by retailers or enterprises for transactions (paying has never been easier!) Such comfort means that the RW-T107 will support Japan’s FeliCa cards but in the long run, support for other cards may be deemed necessary. It has varying uses such as being able to read membership cards, identifications (IDs) and even loyalty cards.
The sad thing is that the Sharp RW-T107 will only be available in Japan with Sharp looking at producing about 5,000 of these each month (to start by September 5). If you’re living the life in Japan (as an expat maybe), better grab one as shopping convenience has been made easier.
