In the Facebook world, it’s very typical to see spoofs, scandals, bizarre video-clips etc. hanging around the wall of your friends. Yesterday, users from US were surprised not because they saw the things we mentioned above but due to an extremely wicked poll. The title?
Should Obama be killed?
You can see that the poll comes with four choices including that “dreaded” health-care bill. Ironically, 750 people already voted on the said poll before it was disabled. Now it may seem like a prank to you, but to Facebook admins and Presidential secret service it’s a matter of assassination attempt over USA’s most powerful man.
Due to the malicious act, the poll was reported to the FB admins and Barry Schnitt (Facebook spokesman) told TPM:
“The application that enabled a user to create the offensive poll was brought to our attention this morning and was disabled. We’re following up [with] the developer to ensure the offending content has been removed and that they have better procedures in place going forward to monitor their user-generated content.”
Due to the intensity of the said incident, secret service got alerted and is already keeping an eye on the issue. During a quick-interview by theplumline to Ed Donovan (secret service spokesperson) He said:
“We are taking the appropriate investigative steps. We are aware of it.”
We know that Facebook has an estimated 300,000 million users world-wide with hundreds of thousands of application roaming around the FB community, I must say even sophisticated super-computers can’t monitor all that’s happening immediately.
Crook or not, this should prompt FB admins to tighten their belts on these type of atrocious rants.
I bet the secret service is already hunting the developers of that poll. Better run dude, than to face MIB and Mister Smith on the flesh!
Updates: Recent news confirmed that our favorite MIB’s of the white house had finally tracked down the person who created that dreaded poll. In fact, he is not yet a man but turns out to be just a kid (juvy).
The secret service already talked to the parents of the said kiddo and determined that it was nothing more than just a prank. I bet that kid got the biggest shock of his lives today.
Secret service sure is fast! don’t you think?
