SkiFree is a computer game where you ski down a slope, choosing from either of the three games namely slalom, tree slalom and freestyle. The objective of Skifree is simple; the player should ski down the slope endlessly avoiding obstacles along the way. The games have various difficulties i.e. tight spaces, trees etc. overall it’s kind of fun, kids will surely love it.
Skifree was created by Chris Pirih on 1991 while working at Microsoft. The game works on various platforms such as Windows, Gameboy color and Macintosh PCs. You can download the game (windows,mac, linux) on this website. Another flash-based online version of the Skifree game is also available. You can try that one too.
The game is simple both in gameplay and design. Pirih used C program to contruct the game and built it out of hobby and for the sake of education. Another co-worker at Microsoft noticed the Skifree game Pirih was working on and so one thing leads to another, Microsoft urged Pirih to include his custom-made game in Microsoft’s next entertainment pack.
