Sonage Lulzsec: New PSN Attack After Going Back Online on June

Posted on 01 June 2011 by pinoytutorial

After the official announcement of the PSBlog concerning the exact ETA of the restoration of Playstation Store, many were a bit disappointed to see it pushed this weekend instead of regaining the ability to download DLCs today. Not to mention that players on South Korea, Hong Kong and Japan still haven’t been able to access PSN, and the ETA for its restoration is still unknown.

To make things sound even gloomy, a report from the blogosphere states that a new group of hackers called as “Lulzsec” is expected to orchestrate an attack against Sony, and this would happen as soon as the company has fully restored all of its service.

Here’s the tweet:

“We’re working on another Sony operation. We’ve condensed all our excited tweets into this one: this is the beginning of the end for Sony”.

Later on, it was revealed that the Sonage hashtag on twitter (Sony + Ownage) is “going at maximum speed, and there’s a lot to do”.

For those who are unaware, Lulzsec is also the same group who made the Tupac-is-alive PBS hack and manage to infiltrate Sony BMG in Japan last week, harvesting usernames and personal information of its users.

To be more specific, it’s stated this group has no direct affiliation with the attack that shook PSN down on April 20.

The protruding reason for all the hackers uniting against Sony, is because of its decision to file a lawsuit charge against Geohot and his PS3 root key two months ago, which is believe to be a direct attack by the company on the freedom of users to do whatever they want on their consoles.

This “lulzsec” IS clearly associated with “anon” who attacked sony before, regardless of what lies they tell. They have exactly the same “motive” and attitude and behavior patterns as anonymous, and in other tweets all but admit that yes they are in the same group, just giving themselves another name, taken from anon’s attitude of “doing it for “lulz” but they are really still motivated by the exact same thing as anon was, supporting the hacking of playstations to play stolen “ripped” games. They are mad that actions have consequences. This is all just a childish high tech lashing out. They should be arrested. Cybercrime is a crime.
