One of the more annoying breaches of etiquette today is the constant glancing on your phone for missed calls or messages or even incoming calls. Just displaying out the phone in plain sight while in a conversation or in the company of others has driven other people into huffs of annoyances. The remedy to that has been developed by Sony Ericsson. Here is the Sony Ericsson LiveView.

The Sony Ericsson LiveView is a small OLED screen display device that shows the more important updates from your tethered smartphone. Due to the small size of the device, you can discreetly peek if anything has happened to your smartphone such as an incoming call or unread messages. The size of the LiveView is basically that of a wristwatch or an iPod Touch Mini.
Here is a quick rundown of the specs and features:
- Dimensions: 35 x 35 x 11 mm
- 1.3-inch 128 x 128 color OLED display
- Metal clip
- Nylon wrist-strap and a plastic frame assembly
- microUSB port
All in all, the whole idea is good on paper. But Sony Ericsson’s execution is another different matter. The idea that you can peek on your wrist like looking at a watch for smartphone updates is a godsend. The only drawback here is the performance of the device. With random disconnection at a high rate and crashes at inopportune moments, Sony Ericsson will need to redevelop this little gadget before making it really a big hit.
