Sony Ericsson, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of handset units is now introducing one of its newest smartphone in the mobile industry, the Xperia X10. SE Xperia X10 will be powered by Android 1.6 OS (quite a pain, we know!). However, some tech sites have mentioned that Sony Ericsson has promised an upgrade to Android 2.1 by Q4 of 2010. Hopefully, they will change their mind and shoot for 2.2 or higher Android OS version.

With the combination of attractive hardware, killer specs (minus the current Android O.S. version), some believed that Xperia X10 is perhaps one of the most promising smartphones in Sony Ericsson’s mobile gadgetry. Let’s see what more to expect from this device.
Xperia X10 comes with a 4-inch scratch resistant VGA touchscreen display, 1GHz Snapdragon processor for faster application processing, built-in GPS, 8.1 mega pixel camera with smile detection, face recognition, auto-focus and LED flash. With an 8.1 MP camera and LED flash, Xperia X10 can produce quality spontaneous shots. It also has an 8 gigabyte memory and a 2 gigabyte flash card with expandable memory up to 32 gigabytes.
This smart phone also features Mediascape and Timescape. With Mediascape installed on this phone, browsing for your favorite videos, music, photos is pretty convenient. This application also makes a clever use of your media player, presenting you with a list of recently played and most-played music files. Timescape is a unique application that automatically organizes and updates social networking sites (Facebook, twitter, emails and so on) in real time.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is priced $149.99 with a 2-year service plan at AT&T. As a bonus, Sony announced that the phone can be acquired for $20 less if bought from a Sony store. The Xperia X10 will be available on August 15, 2010.
This new smart phone is pretty amazing. From looks to specs (except the obsolete OS), I can say that investing your money in this kind of phone might be worth it. The Mediascape and Timescape features can surely attract you if you are a music lover and a social-networking addict. The 8.1 MP camera is sufficient enough to accommodate your casual photo habits. Also, memory size capacity and expansion features are quite commendable.
Lastly, if Sony Ericsson will finally decide to upgrade this handset to the newest Android OS then perhaps this smartphone would really be a steal. A great price in a neat overall package. Let us wait and hope for the best.
