It was last month when we first heard Sony speaking about the company’s new hardware project. And while everyone already thinks this is the next-generation PS console, its VP Mike Hocking revealed something even more ambitious, and that is, a Virtual Reality gear that will be mounted on your head in which Sony claim it already has the “power” to make it work this time unlike those VR HMD’s we have on the late nineties.
As of today, it appears Hocking isn’t joking as he announced this project publicly at the Sony London event wherein he began a speech that lead to the development of a Head Mounted Display equipped with Virtual Reality and its now in the deepest parts of Japan’s laboratories for further R&D.
Likewise, everything is still on the “experiment” stage but just in case you want a physical proof of the concept, the image you’re seeing above was unearthed during this year’s CES: A headgear with integrated dual-OLED screens said to provide the VR experience of the future. Naturally, this development will also infused a 3D-popping display on the mix so this avant-garde project will always perk the attention of the crowd.
While there’s no revelation if this venture will be integrated on Playstation 4, its always nice to think about the possibilities of future consoles for the later part of this decade.
