In case you missed the gamingsphere news for this week, you should know Spike TV already announced its nominees for the Game of the Year awards. The list includes: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, Batman: Arkham City, Portal 2 and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.
Naturally, debates are already scorching on the web and the two most popular choices we’ve seen are Uncharted 3 and Skyrim. Now, instead of comparing the two games using subjective factors like gamer’s preferences, we’re using data from Spike’s previous GoTY awardees to know the possible scenario for this.
Spike’s Previous Data For GoTY Winners
On 2009, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves was the heralded winner battling against Assassin’s Creed II, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Modern Warfare 2 and Left 4 Dead 2. The game’s aggregated review score around the web based from metacritic is 96.
On 2006, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was the GoTY winner ousting Okami, Gears of War 1 and Guitar Hero 2 as its prime contenders. The game’s metacritic score is 94 for PC / Xbox 360 & 93 for PS3.
As we all know, Uncharted 3 is three points lower than its predecessor acquiring 93 for its overall review score. While we don’t know the full recipe on how Spike judge its GoTY, history will tell us that its previous winners all have a staggering score on metacritic. Should Skyrim beat the odds on its release next week, acquiring a score greather than Oblivion’s 94, there’s a possibility Bethesda will get the upper hand.
Gamer’s Opinion
If you want to add some insights from gamers, CVG’s forum made a poll last quarter asking its members what are their picks for this year’s GoTY award. You can see that majority of the discussion leads to the supremacy of Skyrim against its contenders. And oh, another rogue one just popped from answers.yahoo whereas players believe Skyrim will also bag the title. You can also check the video below along with the comments of players discussing this event.
Right now, the ball is back on the court of Bethesda and its up to the company if they can live with the expectation of gamers once they release the game on 11-11-11.

ridiculous list of voters
ah… and SKYRIM = PC, XB360 and PS3
U3 = Only PS3
Well i havent played skyrim.. but thats what id vote for.. Other games dont measure up in my opinion.. Uncharted was a beautiful game.. But Uncharted 3 is to cartooney for my taste, robot spiders in multiplayer??? its a goofy kid game why not play battlefield 3 instead lol.. or the new Modern Warfare 3 LMFAO” if you’ve played one call of duty youve played them all.. Battlefield 3′s multiplayer makes Call of Duty look cheap.. & both games suck & are lacking creativity in my opinion.. SKYRIM is artwork” and should be awarded for it.. either way it doesent matter to me who wins i’ll be busy playing Skyrim
Skyrim, because bethesda has been working on skyrim since 06′ Naughty Dog has been working on uncharted 3 since 09′.
skyrim’s not even out yet..wtf….anyway my vote still goes to Portal 2. – the single player campaign is as perfect a narrative experience as its ever gonna get for the medium for a long while.
Just my humble opinion, but didn’t think U3 was that good. Sure is wasn’t bad but was it anywhere near as good as U2? No. And when a game is worse than its predecessor, you can’t nominate it for GOTY. It should be skyrim vs portal 2.
Mass Effect 3 retreat from 2011 because of Skyrim
In my opinion, I really wasn’t that impressed with U3 it was like watching a movie, its something that’s been done before remove the absolutely amazing storyline, narration and storytelling and what do you have just another clunky, Tintin Jones with a pretty face TPS/Action adventure and retarded AI. Whereas skyrim had real depth, sure it had a lot of glitches and bugs but the hours of gameplay and the replay value of the game is amazing.
