Indeed, it is now end of battle for some 5,000 Starcraft 2 players. Well, they have been warned, and did not heed, so the price to their unjust and exploitative actions must nonetheless be paid.

Sometime mid-September, Blizzard has announced through Starcraft 2’s official blog site that they will be taking actions against those who violate the game’s terms and conditions which includes prohibiting cheating, using hacks and exploits. Those who will be caught doing so will be banned in the game which means they will not be able to log in to Battle.net. It seems that the only thing they could do to be able to log in and play again is to buy the game again. The warning post seemed like an ultimatum—as if it is Blizzard was giving the hackers and cheaters their last chance to stop what they have been doing. And Blizzard was clear about taking actions “soon.”
And that “soon” happened just recently. As another post in the Starcraft 2’s official blog site stated (see screenshot below), over 5,000 players were banned from playing and had their accounts deactivated because of violation of the Terms of Use.
The most widely used type of cheating and game modification is map hacking. To do this, some players hack their installed Starcraft 2 client for them to be able to see the whole game map. It is undeniably a great edge for the player, since he would have the chance to explore the whole game terrain plan, and attack even without probing an area beforehand.
So for those who have been trying to search for ways to cheat, it is recommended that they stop exerting efforts to do so. This should serve as an ample warning already. If anyone wants to continue enjoying playing the game, then they should be well contented in playing the game fairly and according to terms and conditions. Anyway, where is the challenge, and not to mention, the dignity if you play and just win a game because you cheated? Cheating should not be included in a real gamer’s vocabulary.
Blizzard should be saluted for their effort of keeping the Starcraft 2 battlefield clean of cheating players and setting their priorities—which is to maintain safe, stable and secure online gaming experience—right.
