Certain news about an editor of a blog has been leaked and has been released into the press that he stole an iPhone (iPhone 4G) and several other gadgets that are yet to be released in the market. It was discussed by the authorities if the actions of Jason Chen were legal (Gizmodo informed that they bought the phone for $5000) as to releasing reviews about gadgets such as the newest iPhone.
The whole circus started when Jason Chen, editor of the Gizmodo blog released a review on an “Apple prototype 4G iPhone”. The said phone is still a concept and is still being developed, so when the scoop about this gadget came out, Apple and several other people questioned how the blogger got a hold of such a phone. Chen said that he found the iPhone at a bar last Friday and claims he didn’t steal it. Although police are wondering why he didn’t come out and say anything about this, they’re in doubt about what he said.
When Chen came home with his wife one night, he was surprised to see that there were police officers on his property and had already started to confiscate some of his things. Chen found his front door bashed and when he asked the police about this, they told him they did it because he wasn’t home to answer the door. The police also showed him the search warrant and informed Chen that they took pictures of the gadgets before and after so as to know if anything will be tampered.
If Jason Chen will be convicted of felony for receiving stolen property or aiding a thief, he will be put to jail for up to a year. The duration of the term in prison will depend upon the severity of the crime, the value of the stolen item and if the accused has had prior records. It will all depend in the interests of justice.
Events like these are funny and amusing. The things people do to get ahead of the competition. Nowadays, people will just do about anything to get their hands on the latest hot gadgets. This news is like the one wherein a man’s finger was cut off because someone robbed him of an iPad. It’s a crazy thing. But who am I to say all these things because for some people, they live for the thrill of being the first to have the newest must-have technology.
