If you’re a child of the 90′s, then you probably remember the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) as the number one gaming console of the decade. You may also remember having to blow onto your cartridges and even into the machine itself if there were any problems while playing. Sure, it may be the end of 2011, but it’s always nice to look back to the good old days of the 16- and 32-bit eras.

It seems like Hyperkin misses the 90′s gaming era too, because the accessory and console maker has just released a handheld SNES device just a few days ago, December 1st.
No, we are not joking. While the gaming market is just teeming with handhelds, this console is very different from all the rest because it doesn’t cater to the newer games. If you’ve kept your old Super Mario and Mortal Kombat cartridges out of nostalgia, then it’s time to dust them off, because the Supaboy portable SNES caters to the 16-bit 90′s games, and the 16-bit 90′s games only.
Aside from being a handheld like the DS or the PSP, the Supaboy can be used like a regular SNES console if you get tired of playing on it’s 3.5-inch LCD screen. With AV and classic controller ports, you can link it to your TV and play with a friend.
How much would this little gadget cost you? $79.99. A little pricey, considering it’s limited to the SNES games, but the Supaboy is completely worth it for being able to play all your old favorites, and even introducing the new generation to the origins of their favorite game franchises. Unfortunately, it’s only available on Amazon and can only be shipped within the US, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed in the event that it gets shipped internationally.
