How about having a thumb drive which has a read speed and a write speed that’s like lightning fast and has a massive storage capacity? Now, this was the goal of Patriot Memory (a global pioneer in high-performance memory, NAND flash, storage and enthusiast computer products) in introducing its Supersonic Magnum USB 3.0 at Cebit 2011 in Hanover, Germany last March 1-5.

In simple terms, the Supersonic Magnum USB 3.0 has a storage capacity of 128GB (there is also a 64GB available drive). It combines a single-chip native USB 3.0 controller with eight-channels of memory and can guarantee delivery of blazing fast transfers – a 200MB/s read speed and 110MB/s write speed. The lightweight and durable aluminum enclosure of the Supersonic Magnum enables it to withstand and survive up to 15Gs of shock. With such enclosure, data is pretty much nice and safe whenever transported or whatever the drive is subjected to. Another extremely nice feature of the drive is that it easily fits in your pocket.
The new Supersonic Magnum will be available in the market by the 2nd quarter of this year. Details on the price for both 64GB and 128GB drives haven’t been announced yet but it sure would cost a lot for a fast and portable drive.
