Coming hot from the Nokia event today, the company managed to thrill all Symbian fans by introducing Symbian Anna nee S^3 Anna, which is still the Symbian^3 platform but with added features and fresh new experience for users.
As for its changes, the updated platform will include new icons, enhancements on text inputs, better web-browsing experience with its improved UI; “refreshed” Ovi Maps enabling quick searchs for users, security upgrades, and expect many more batch updates in the future. Interestingly, it has this “predictive” search when you visit its transportation / location category, and this integrates Bing for its primary search-engine.
So far, expect “Anna” to arrive on 2010+ Nokia handsets such as C6-01, C7, Nokia N7 and N8 via plugged or an OTA Update. As for the two newly revealed smartphones today – E7 and X7 – they will come preloaded with this platform on its release.

During the event, Nokia also stated that the Ovi store are now amounting up to five million downloads per day in terms of its applications around the world, packing with 40k apps with 158 developers globally. Likewise, this hints that Symbian will be far from being dead even with the launch of WP7 this year.
