Synaptics ClickPad Series 3: Review and Release Date — Add Multitouch on Windows Laptops!

Posted on 19 November 2010 by pinoytutorial

Call us bitter, but there’s no doubt that the trackpad on Macbook laptops has got to be the best navigational tool we’ve ever used towards a portable computer. And probably this is the sole reason why Synaptics built the Clickpad technology so at least, even those windows based laptops will finally deserve a proper christening of what it must be, to have a multitouch experience on its own trackpad.

So far, engadget has managed to unfold this lengthy hands-on impression of describing the look and feel of the new Synpatics Clickpad IS Series 3. On a nutsheel, this technology aims to solve that ‘accidental contact mitigation’ or that’s how they put it, meaning preventing you to commit a common mistake of accidentally swiping your trackpad marking an error on your workspace. Impressively, when you start using Clickpad, you will first be in a configuration mode whereas you will do several ‘tap test’ and you can even put your own custom-made gestures for a better control. (e.g: draw letter z on your trackpad, and you will automatically close a window tab) In addition to that, Synaptics new technology can sense up to four-finger swyping which is very advance in my opinion. The result is, giving user the freedom of customizing their clickpad to its maximum potentiality.

All in all, the Synaptics Clickpad Series 3 is definitely a real must-have if you happened to be that type of person who’s longing for a trackpad from Macbook on your Windows PC. The not so welcoming news is, you need to wait for next year before this technology lands on your HP, Dell or Lenovo laptops. Probably, its gotta be worth the wait, huh?
