As some of you who are familiar with the drama that evolved between the users of Vibrant against T-mobile and Samsung, leading to a lawsuit charge from a developer, it appears everything can breathe a little bit as T-mo finally made the official call of releasing this much-coveted Android 2.2 Froyo update for all Vibrant users. And its Chief Marketing officer Cole Brodman states that it should be ready for download today!

Just like any Android 2.2 update, this one can’t be finished in one day only and expect this upgrade to roll-out for several days until all Vibrant owners receive it. Interestingly, Brodman manage to reveal why they are holding up this release and it appears the reason for this was “technical” and not some shady marketing tactics to bring the gift-horse out from its customers.
Here’s the excerpt:
“It was a quality control and timing issue,” Brodman said. “The biggest challenge is integration and customization.”
To make things even more exciting, Magenta claims it will be rolling out the new versions of Google’s Android OS under a 3-5 months period, which we are expecting to be the Android 2.3 (gingerbread). Expect that if ever there’ll be some stalling issues to occur again, it’s because of technical difficulties like implementing WiFi calling. Later on, Brodman reveals the T-mobile Galaxy S 4G debuting at the MWC conference next week.

“_James C: After checking I do not show that the update for the Samsung Vibrant to the Android 2.2 software has been released yet. That is being rolled out to our customers that have the MyTouch 1.2 though. So at this time we do not have any information about when that update will be rolled out for the Vibrant.”
