To prevent file recoveries, the unit also has the File Shredder to permanently delete important data.

Other features include the 750 GB or more of HHD, a 14 inch (1366 X 768 pixels) LED display, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 + HS, Gigabit Ethernet, a High Definition Webcam and 3.0 USB ports.

The updated Acer TravelMate P243 is sold at 339 euros (or $536) apiece but if you are willing to spend more cash you can get up to 8GB of RAM and/or the NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M graphics for the best picture quality.

Packard Bell's EasyNote TV & LV laptop lineup will be updated with Ivy Bridge processor. See price and release date details.

The Ivy Bridge migration has finally reached Europe’s shores courtesy of Acer’s local brand, Packard Bell. The most common change that Ivy Bridge processors bring is, of course, the smaller form factor, lower power consumption and more efficient heat management. What it translates to, aside from getting smaller is that it gives laptops more battery time.

All of these are present in Packard Bell’s EasyNote TV and LV plus a whole lot more. These devices measure 15.6 inch and 17.3 inch and will have the NVIDIA GeForce GT 620 M and 630 M respectively. These display area and GPUs will give the laptops enough juice for gaming and other graphics heavy applications. More on functionality, Packard Bell added 20% more responsiveness to its multi-touch trackpad. Also, to make it more rounded performance-wise, they have put on dedicated buttons for music and social media applications.

Aesthetically speaking, the bamboo-like lid pattern is a nice touch and will help justify the $656 starting price. Barely a month from now, the EasyNote TV and LV notebook lineup will be available to the European consumers and if Acer follows previous practice of bringing in equivalent models in the US, it also won’t be long now until US buyers finally get a hand on these nifty gadgets.

The recent Chrome OS update, codename "Aura", is centered on Acer and Samsung Chromebooks. See new UI feature and release date

It seems like Google is taking its operating system to a whole new level.

Google’s Chrome OS has a new update along with a new user interface going by the name Aura. And it’s taking the operating system from the simple browser and tabs user interface to one that behaves like a conventional operating system; with a desktop and window manager.

So what’s all the fuss about?

This update is a whole new version of the OS, leaving its roots to transform into something very close to being a full-fledged operating system. While the previous Chrome OS simply lets you open one browser window at a time, the new version allows you to open multiple browser windows at once. Google is pushing the new update to Chromebooks running on the dev channel.

Features of the Chrome Aura OS include an app launcher similar to Launchpad, and a “shelf” that works the same as a Windows’ taskbar. Apps, however, does not start as a stand-alone window but will still start in a browser tab. The OS also features a slightly improved media player as well as support for new file types such as .gz, .bzip2 and .tar.

This move from Google brings a lot of commotion from online sites as some feel that the company is swerving from their original goal for creating the Chrome OS, which is all about speed and simplicity, arguing that other operating systems were complicating matters for their users. The new OS, on the other hand, deviates from the simplistic approach to accommodate a greater functionality.

Google Chrome Aura was debuted to the public on April 8th. Unfortunately, the update will only be coming to Acer’s AC700 and Samsung Series 5 Chromebooks. Also unfortunate is reports that the Cr-48 will not be supported. Google announces that other Chromebooks will be receiving future updates, explaining the update delay as due to “platform considerations.”

Compact and handy, those are the things that best describe the Acer C120 Pico Projector. See more details including price and specs if you want to buy one now.

In doing important presentations, projectors have been very helpful or an ally so to speak. However, their reliability and the game changed with the advent of tablets as said devices were made as alternatives for presentation. Acer though doesn’t believe on these tablets as they are still keen on marketing projectors.

Case in point is its C120 pico projector. First introduced in the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Vegas, this is not your ordinary projector folks as the device has the dimension of one’s palm (yes, you read that right). Aside from being that small, the projector weighs just about 6.34 ounces and measures 4.72 inches wide and 3.23 inches deep. Its size plus weigh brings another meaning to portability of device.

The projector is connected through USB and this also serves to power it once it is connected to a personal computer (PC) or notebook (brightness is 75 lumens when using USB). The C120 also has a quick-starting light emitting diode (LED) lamp that enables it to display presentations at 16:9 aspect ratio with WVGA resolution (854×480) or at an aspect ratio of 16:10 and resolution of 1280×800.

Business people as well as people who have an eye for small and portable devices particularly projectors, the Acer C120 projector retails for about $259 and are already available in the market. It sure is small but it may also help one in creating a lasting impression to his/her clients and audience. After all, size doesn’t matter.

Acer introduces its ultrabook-like V5 notebook at the CeBIT 2012 event. Check out its specs, price and release date

After unveiling the CloudMobile and the Liquid Glow at the recently concluded 2012 Mobile World Congress, Acer went to jump on the other side of the fence and this time, presenting the new Acer Aspire V5 notebook Series at the CeBIT.

With the public wanting a thinner, more powerful notebook to adhere to their ever evolving needs, Acer met this remark halfway and with the company’s new V5 series, it not only compliment the public’s demand for power, but also in terms of style, class, and modern design.

With its Ultrabook like design and can very well be included into the same spotlight, all of the Acer V5 Series notebooks are 30% thinner than that of the class it replaces, making it more compact, handy and always present whenever you need it. The company’s 11.6inch variant is less that 15mm thick whilst its optical drive laden, 14-inch counterpart comes around at 21mm and weighs only a mere 2.1kg. Moreover, the V5 15.6inch alternate with optical drive is designed to be thinner: less than 23mm and weighs a subpar 2.3kg.

In terms of performance, the V5 series are interlaced with Intel’s i3 and i5 processors and graphics specs are carried by the acclaimed NVIDIA GeForce GT Series. It also has a bevy of connectors including an HDMI, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 port as well as an optical drive.

Acer’s V5 Series are also equipped with a clever power management blueprint and with peripherals that boosts acoustics and thermal comfort without sacrificing performance and the ability to do day to day tasks. Thus, all of V5 variants can be comfortably set on the lap without the unwanted heat even during high performance usage. The notebooks are also ENERGY STAR certified which mean that they are capable to conserve enough power and environment friendly at the same time. Equipped with Acer’s Instant Connect, the notebook automatically scans and registers a user’s often visited access points and connects to the Internet in under 2.5seconds – four times faster than its competitors.

The Acer V5 Series notebooks are scheduled to hit shelves in Q2 with price tags of $650 to $920. For those wanting to save some more, the company is also slated to release the Aspire One netbook with the same chassis make as that of the V5 but with Intel Pentium and Celeron processors on the inside. The Aspire One should come in a budget friendly $525 to $590.

Acer has finally revealed its Android ICS handset, CloudMobile at the on-going MWC event. See its specs list and features. Price and release date are still hazy.

Acer is indeed expanding its portfolio to mobile devices and proof of which is its ClouldMobile. The company’s hard work paid off as the CloudMobile won the 2012 iF Design Award (no wonder that Acer is very vocal about it).

Showcased in the ongoing MWC, at a glance, one would surely understand why it the CloudMobile is an iF awardee. For starters, it’s built on a 10mm “Sleeve DNA” contoured shell. One can feel its textured back and it has a curvy built. It also features a 4.3-inch 720 high-definition (HD) touchscreen. Chipset present is the 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon. The operating system (OS) is not known at the moment but some believed that this smartphone would carry Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich.

In terms of audio, we sure can expect superb quality as it has Dolby-branded speaker plate located on its back. Its user interface (UI) remains to be a mystery as the unit on demo only runs on pre-production firmware. From this point, it can be assumed that the smartphone may run on a customized skin but we’ll really get a feel once the final unit comes out.

Acer is eyeing the CloudMobile to be released sometime in the third quarter of the year. With respect to how much it would cost, no information was made available.

Acer is set to introduce its Android ICS handset, Liquid Glow, come MWC 2012. See leaked specs, features and release date. Price is still undisclosed.

Acer plans to present its newest phone at the 2012 Mobile World Congress this February 27 at Barcelona, Spain. Acer calls it the Liquid Glow smartphone, as it has a glossy colored shell for its exterior and comes in colors: Sakura Pink, Alpine White and Cat’s-eye Black with the onscreen display style varying with the external color, turning each phone into “a unique fashion statement”.

Online sources reveal that the Liquid Glow features a 3.7-inch WVGA display with an 800 x 480 resolution, a 1GHz Qualcomm 7227A processor, 512MB RAM, 1GB internal storage, NFC support, and a 5MP autofocus camera with LED flash. Reports say that this list of specs is not yet complete and is expected to be updated once the MWC starts.

Unlike some other phones to be released in the MWC that still runs on a Gingerbread OS, the Liquid Glow is expected to already run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upon release. Also, the Liquid Glow works with Google’s latest voice-input engine to guarantee continuous open microphone experience and streaming voice recognition. It also features Android Beam which can share photos with other NFC powered Android devices with a single tap.

While a price tag is yet to be revealed, Acer announces that the Liquid Glow is expected to be released in the UK this summer.
