Many hardcore gamers bear witness to this year’s VGA awards and perhaps had no doubts that Skyrim truly deserves The Game of the Year award. Aside from that we also saw a handful of World Premieres from various game publishers and interesting scoops on upcoming games – particularly that of Naughty Dog’s.
For those who don’t know, Naughty Dog was the developer of the critically acclaimed PS3 series, Uncharted. And now, it is back with yet another title, the previously elusive The Last of Us. A week ago this game was announced as an exclusive PS3 title with no concrete details. Now, we know better.
What surprised us – aside from learning that Naughty Dog gained the IP for this game – was the announcement trailer showing a young woman (named Ellie) who resembled like the actress, Ellen Page. Another survivor, a man named Joel, accompanies young Ellie across abandoned US cities which were mostly decimated by a modern plague. The Last of Us is said to contain survival and action elements in addition to non-traditional gameplay. Naughty Dog aims to bring a new level of cinematic gaming and storytelling providing gamers with a whole new experience.
The game is obviously still in development and therefore its release is still undisclosed. Nevertheless, we’re sure that updates about it will be divulged in the following days and months. In the mean time, you may watch the official trailer (again) below.
