Ever since the Apple iPad was released it has already dominated the tablet market already. And because of this a lot of manufacturers are trying their best in order to come up with their own tablet version that would give a tough competition to this leading tablet. And the most recent of these manufacturers is no other than Toshiba Corporation, one of the leading manufacturers when it comes to laptops and PCs.

Just recently, Toshiba expresses its plan of introducing its own tablet device in the US that will feature a screen that is slightly bigger than that of the Apple iPad. And as expected this new tablet computer will be running with Google Inc.’s Android mobile operating system, the closest rival of Apple’s iOS operating system.
Apparently, this new tablet computer will be showed off by Toshiba Corp. at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) that will be held in Las Vegas. In this event, a lot of electronics manufacturer will be showing off their newest electronics offering and the newest gadgets that will be released by various topnotch manufacturers in the industry like Apple, Acer, Samsung, HP, Toshiba and a lot more.
This new tablet computer is still unnamed at the moment and only a few details about it has been released as well. But this upcoming tablet is rumored to be coming out with a 10.1 inch display screen and it will be a Tegra 2-powered Android Honeycomb tablet.
In addition to this upcoming 10.1-inch tablet is also expected to come up with the following specs as well:
- comes with a high resolution display of 1280 x 800 pixels
- comes with an accelerometer and ambient light sensor
- equipped with a 5 megapixel rear camera and a 2 megapixel front-facing camera as well
- comes with a full sized USB jack, HDMI jack, a single mini-USB socket and an SD card slot

This Toshiba tablet will not be the first tablet that will run with the Android operating system or even the first Japanese tablet that will ever be released, but this one will be the first tablet that Toshiba will be releasing in the US. Release date and the official price of this tablet have not yet been disclosed, but it is expected to be around $ 499 to $ 829 depending on its memory capacity as well as its wireless capabilities.
If every new tablet that will be released in the market will be compared to the iPad and called an iPad contender, then Toshiba obviously has one interesting tablet that can give the iPad a good competition. Let us just wait and see if Toshiba will be able to succeed with this new and upcoming 10.1-inch tablet.
