After revealing the first 3D Qosmio last January followed by the Core-i5 Qosmio T750 laptop, Tosh is now revealing a “hybrid” laptop that can display 3D and 2D simultaneously called as the Toshiba Qosmio T851.
As for its specifications, it offers a 15.6-inch HD LCD with LED Backlight, and 1920 x 1080 resolution for 2D / 1366 x 768 resolution on 3D. It runs a 2.3GHz Intel Core i5-2410M CPU up to 2.9GHz w/ Turbo Boost Technology 2.0, packs with NVIDIA GeForce GT540M video-card and 8GB DDR3 RAM. Meanwhile, it has a 750GB HDD, Blu-Ray Disc (BDXL compatible) / DVD-Writer combo for its Optical, comes preloaded with 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium SP1; Bluetooth / WiFi Support, utilizes harman kardon speakers – sadly, the company didn’t mentioned anything about its battery power which is one of the main problems of the previous Qosmio laptops.

For its features, this device uses a glasses-free 3D technology to put you on its three-dimensional world in full HD quality, with distinctive “face tracking” and “active lens” to enhance the experience. In our previous article, we mentioned that Face Tracking is the company’s new technology of using the webcam to trace the position of the eyes of its users making the 3D rendering more precise. Interestingly, this notebook has a 2D conversion “SpursEngine”, adaptive to those viewers who want to enjoy the normal two-dimensional viewing. Of course, this laptop uses Harman Kardon speakers so expect that its sound quality will be superb.
No price or any release date revealed, although pundits are expecting this product to hit Japan first, followed by a US release this year for a competitive price.
