Sometimes you just can’t help but to wonder why companies keeps on releasing a mediocre type of laptop with bland specs and a hell lot of design problems than just  reveal something that’s high-end which will be bought by savvy customers. This is my first impression with the newly revealed Toshiba Satellite C660 notebook. Remember that’s my first impression only.

Anyway, if you will look at its official press release statement, it appears that Toshiba is making some sense here, if we’re just talking about money, considering that they will release the C660 notebook before the holidays throughout Europe, Middle East and Africa for a budgeted price of 550 USD below (I assume just like its brother C600)

At a glance, the Toshiba C660 has a very simple looking yet solid form-factor with a non-reflective surface that has  size of 15.6 inch and it will cater all the essential features and specifications you need if you’re just wanting to have an office-type of laptop on a budget price. On its core lies an AMD or Intel Processor in which you can choose upon pre-ordering it (Core i3 processor or Athlon II respectively) An integrated graphics card with a RAM set up to 8GB DDR3 (1066 MHz)  for ‘smooth multitasking’. A generous hard drive up to 640 GB, touch pad with a bonus multi-tasking feature for total control usability.

Other goodies include your normal, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 functionality. VGA Web Camera* with Face Recognition and microphone. A pre-installed Windows 7 64-bit Professional OS with a bundled Microsoft Office Starter 2010 and a bonus Nero 9 burner software.   Like I said above, the price of this one will be very affordable but you can expect a European-first release from this one judging from its press release statement.

Toshiba may seem to be on a middling side here because of the fact that they still want to pursue to release this type of laptop, considering they already have a high-end 3D laptop before. However, this may be lucrative for buyers who has a tight-budget. Probably, students who just want to have that laptop which can browse, do paper-works, install some multi-media applications efficiently. And doesn’t want to use it for games and other exhaustive applications that drains a lot of  resources. In the end it will be up to your preferences if you will buy it or go for that two grand macbook pro.
