I came across this day searching about one of my “favorite” social-networking site; Twitter. I am both pleased and disappointed with the results I see, coming from self-proclaimed mentors of twitter teaching newbie users the WRONG way of using the “blue-chick”. Just by reading their first paragraph I knew these folks are not really educating people but merely advertising their tool for their own profit.

I think it’s time to set the facts clear and bust the myths revolving twitter for good!
1. Myth: With twitter, it’s so EASY to earn MONEY.
- Busted: This kind of melody is too farfetched to believe. There’s no such thing as easy money my friend. Remember: Even slave traders need to trade don’t they? At this moment the highest ranking twitter user is aplusk (Actor: Ashton Kutcher) and he doesn’t even use his twitter popularity to gain money. see more details at twittercounter
- Fact: Twitter is a very good medium to gain money if you know how to use it well. By following people who share the same interest with you (eg. business-individuals, sellers, brokers etc) you can build a connection and share affiliates with them. Though, I can’t stressed how much you need to be careful on this one. See myth no. 2 and 3
2. Myth: I sold my products to 10 people in 5 minutes using Twitter. This is awesome!
- Busted: If twitter was something like a “miracle selling machine”, then brokers, sales-agent alike are all millionaires now. Makes sense?
- Fact: There’s a term used by professionals called “building a network” and yes, it can be integrated with your twitter network. How? By searching “real” twitter users (not bots or e-whoring advertisers) who are interested with the product you are selling. You can communicate with them and build “trust”. These communication are usually done outside twitter (twitter was never intended for long messages). Later, when you established a LINK then you can finally have your “Miracle sell” with the help of Twitter!
3. Myth: Selling has never been so easy, now that I have thousands of followers. Thanks Twitter!
- Busted: You can have a Million of followers but 99% of them are bots. Bots don’t buy your product, they only advertise. What is the use? :(
- Fact 1: Having a lot of followers can give you money IF you join (Pay-per-click ads) two of the hottest today are be-a-magpie and revtwt. These sites has automatic integration of ADS to your daily tweets on twitter. Though, I don’t recommend that you use this as your SINGLE source of revenue, because it will not make you rich. Why? first the cost per click is not BIG, in fact it’s less than 10 cents a click. Second, individuals who love “easy money” will ready to die for this kind of program.
- Fact 2: These money-hungry peepz will create multiple accounts and buy a Twitter-bot tool in a desperate attempt to gain more revenue with pay per click ads. Problem? Other million of money-hungry twitter users know this. Result? It’s raining ADS in twitter! HALLELUIAH. Effect? Real twitter users will never even bother to click one of these ads because they are saturated and they know it’s just another ADS. Poor botters, if only they know how to invest their time right :(
4. Myth: I see lot of sexy girls in twitter. They must be for real!

- Busted: The only real thing about them is that they are not really real!
- Fact: It’s imbued in the genetics of men to get their eyes glued to a trance-inducing femme fatale. Desperate advertisers know this trick, so they pick the hottest PICTURE in town, use it as their primary picture for their account, post a text ads, then cross their fingers that someone will “foolishly” click on their ads!
5. Myth: Twitter is the best social-media for getting free traffic inside a blog.
- FACT: Twitter was intended to create micro-blogs for people to share. By integrating your website’s feed to your twitter account. Your feeds will now become tweets circulating in your twitter network. There’s a high possibility that those tweets will be indexed by search engine spiders. Once they are indexed, it will create a better traffic for your blog. Now for the word “best social-media”? I lead that to you once you tried it for yourself :)
6. Myth: I earn 100,000 followers this week using this amazing Twitter tool. Buy it dude!
- Busted: Many professional twitter users, know that twitter has a limit of following people. Once you reached that CAP, you can only follow people based on the ratio of your following:followers.
- Fact 1: Premium Twitter bot tools, has the capability of following, unfollowing, sending automated messages to twiter users. But once you hit your CAP in twitter, you cannot follow thousands of people everyday. Ex. a person who has 10k following: and 10k followers can only follow 500 people per day. A user who has 10k following and 2 million followers has the ability to follow thousands of people everyday. Does this make sense?
- Fact 2: There are no Twitter BOT currently available who can HACKED that CAP set by twitter admin. Unless you are already famous and people follow you out of their own will. Reaching your cap will be inevitable. See details
There are other myths that are disclosed in this post. Though I feel contended that at least I opened someone else’s eyes about the TRUTH behind twitter. 
If your goal in twitter is to have more followers and gain extra traffic in your blog then you are in the right path.
Else, if your goal is to make Twitter your new FOUND POT OF GOLD on your rainbow path of selling ads or affiliates, think again…
