Uncharted 2: Among thieves brought the bacon home by winning the most prestigious Game of the Year award last night. The action-packed PS3 video game defeated other worthy opponents namely: Assassin’s Creed 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Left 4 Dead 2 on 2009 Video Game Awards.
We thought that Modern Warfare 2 or Left 4 Dead 2 are the 2 strongest contenders this year but boy we’re wrong. Uncharted 2’s gameplay and storyline secured the crown. It was announced 2 years ago and released last October 2009 by Sony Computer Entertainment for PS3 with Naughty Dog as its game developer. Uncharted 2 also won the Best Graphics and Best PS3 game respectively. I say, it’s a well deserved win, check the video nomination below for more details.
The game event won’t be completed if not for top caliber celebrities in the house. The night’s most memorable moment belonged to legendary musician Stevie Wonder who presented the award for Best Music Game 2009 on The Beatles: Rock Band. The music icon was welcomed with a 3-minute standing ovation and applause from the audience. Former Boxing Heavyweight Champion “Iron” Mike Tyson helped to present Best Shooter award to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
As promised, Snoop Dogg brought the house down with his latest single “I Want to Rock” together with the smashing performance of The Bravery who sang “Slow Poison”.
