Just when we thought the original iPad couldn’t slash its price below 399, lo and behold, Verizon is currently selling its first-gen iPad slates (16GB) for just $299!

We don’t exactly know the definite reason on Big Red’s move to cut its selling price, but for sure many gadget hunters will love this news! The discount catapults with other WiFi-only models such as the iPad 32GB which now sells for only $399.99 and the iPad 64GB for $499.99. The discounted price tag is only applicable to WiFi-only models. First-gen iPads (16GB) WiFi + 3G will be sold at the same price rate of $399 – which also comes with MiFi.
As we’ve said before, it isn’t necessary to upgrade on a higher spec’d iPad 2. The iPad has a multitude of functionalities that can be utilized at work, school and other day-to-day activities. You can give it as an early Christmas / Birthday present to your son or nephew as well.
For sure, stocks at several Verizon retail stores won’t last that long. AT&T, on the other hand, still maintains the 399-dollar price for the 16GB WiFi-model. But, of course, many are hoping that the company will join the club soon. Meanwhile, we’re not expecting the original iPad price to drop lower than 299 considering the resale value of the iPad at $199. Grab one now while it lasts!
