Finally, the iPhone 4 is now available to Verizon customers after so much pleading by customers. However, it seems that it isn’t free of any flaws just like the legendary Antennagate problem a.k.a “Death Grip”.

The iPhone 4 antennagate issue started with AT&T a couple of days upon its official launch . Customers realized that their calls dropped more frequently, getting weak signal or were not sent through the network. Obviously, many were hoping that the problem would be fixed once the handset was carried by Verizon.
Most consumers also switched from AT&T to Verizon iPhone 4 due to the latter’s quality of voice calls. Apple and Verizon had collaborated in order to modify the iPhone 4 to fit the network’s CDMA / EVDO allowing customers to have better call experience. However, the dreaded signal attenuation was still being experienced when the phone is held at the particular gap on its casing (similar with AT&T’s case). The solution for this one, again, will be to put the iPhone into a special case/covering.
Consumer Reports further noted that:
As with our tests of the AT&T iPhone 4, putting a finger across one particular gap — the one on the lower left side — caused performance to decline. Bridging this gap is easy to do inadvertently, especially when the phone is in your palm, which might readily and continuously cover the gap during a call.
Reportedly, users mostly experience this issue at places where signal strength from the network is at its lowest – which is normal. Even with a large network coverage as Verizon, there is no guarantee that all signals will always be excellent.
This is certainly not a good sign for Apple since it had enough time to solve this issue. If you’re a Verizon iPhone 4 owner, have you experienced similar signal lost issue in your handset?
