The growing competition between mobile phone manufacturers for Android-based phones must really put some pressure to Apple. And there were some ongoing rumors that finally Apple’s CEO, Steve Jobs has decided to make the iPhone available via the largest wireless carrier network in the US, Verizon Wireless.
At present, AT&T has been exclusively distributing the iPhone and it has been like that for more than three years now. And now that it is rumored that Apple will be adapting the iPhone 4 handset to Verizon Wireless, for sure lots of Verizon customers will now have the access to the iPhone 4 and that will begin early next year.

Apparently, the arrival of the iPhone 4 to Verizon Wireless might change the trend of the smartphone market in the US since the iPhone remains to be the top selling smartphone nowadays. However, in some areas around the world which do not have access to the iPhone, the Google Android-based smartphone seems to outshine the iPhone.
The Android-based smartphones have been predominant nowadays as more mobile manufacturers come out with their latest Android-based smartphone. This situation might have pushed Apple to extend its market and release the iPhone 4 via Verizon Wireless. Since the Apple iPhone has been exclusive with AT&T network, it seems that in one way or another it has prevented the iPhone to take more market shares and gave the chance to Android-based phones to enter the market.
With a Verizon iPhone on its way, this step seems to be a good chance to quickly bring back the market in Apple’s favor. If you will remember, the iPhone and AT&T network has been flooded with complaints for poor network coverage and some reception issues especially in major cities such as New York and San Francisco. This may have been the reason that lots of customers have slowly been shifting to buy Android handsets from other carriers in order to avoid these problems.
However, some research and survey revealed that many Android handset owners still prefer iPhone and would be interested to buy one if it will be coming with Verizon Wireless. The arrival of iPhone to Verizon could bring Apple around 10 million additional sales, as predicted by some analysts. However, with Verizon’s gradual shifting to 4G technology, some analysts believes that it could hold off the Verizon iPhone until 2012.
For now, let us just wait for Apple and Verizon’s official announcement in the future if there is some truth to these rumors since Apple declined to comment at the moment.
