A new streaming media player WD TV Live has been officially launched by Western Digital that features Spotify music streaming service at a max of 320kps as well as Dailymotion, Facebook, Netflix, YouTube and Hulu Plus.

The peripheral is WiFi-equipped and internal storage-lacking pair of boxes that use 802.11n. It has been dubbed as the next-generation media player with its WiFi functionality and streaming capabilities. The User Interface (UI) is intuitive and can deliver all forms of media contents directly to the TV (TV shows, movies and other online services). It can wirelessly connect to the Internet or through an Ethernet. Western Digital is a known provider of solid state drives (SSDs) and high-performance hard drives.
Other features include support for offline personal media (photos, music, and video) in various file formats through a USB drive or directly from a network drive and digital camcorder or camera. A network drive can access personal cloud storage such as My Book Live and any network-ready computers at home. Spotify subscribers with a premium membership can enjoy unlimited access to its music files in sound quality. It can create as well as manage the Spotify playlists, share songs and profiles with other subscribers.
The player is now available for $99 while the Spotify service is already available in eight countries with the list expected to grow in the future.
