Many of us are wondering what new features the Windows 8 will bring that is completely different from its predecessor, Windows 7 after being the fastest-selling operating system to date. No one knows exactly what this next version will look like, or when it’ll be released until the slides containing Microsoft’s vision for Windows 8 leaked on the internet. Now, screenshots from the cnBeta as well as rumors and speculations of Windows 8 features are buzzing all over.
The most ambitious feature would probably be the ‘App Store’. Its layout is more likely resembling the iTunes’ storefront than that of the Zune Marketplace, but many are saying that it will be called Windows Marketplace since technically it will just be an extension from the first Windows Phone Store. The operating system will be more tablet-friendly, adding up a Welcome Screen and improved touch controls for the touchscreens. Windows 8 also features a secondary “metro” interface from the Windows Phone 7 concept to make programs for both phones and Windows easier.
Other screenshots showed a Ribbon menu bar to replace the pull-down toolbar. The SmartScreen Malware protection will be protecting the core system from threats while browsing and the History Vault will undo all system changes made. Windows 8 will also feature a built-in PDF reader, no need for us to install one.
Face recognition, 3D support as well as a 128-bit support are also rumoured to feature the Windows 8 while it’ll have easier install process and faster start-up time. The date of release is not yet set, but some of the PC manufacturer like Dell listed their Q1 Windows 8 tablet for 2012. Much to look forward to.
