The tablet market continues to grow as more manufacturers out there revealed their own version of tablet devices. And the latest to offer its own tablet device is no other than Microsoft. The company has long been rumored to have a plan of launching a Windows 8 tablet and just recently Microsoft has been spotted showing off an upcoming quad-core tablet at the TechEd New Zealand conference that was held in Auckland. Additionally, there were also two photos of this upcoming device online that was uploaded by IT consultant and Microsoft fan named Alan Burchill.

The upcoming Microsoft Windows 8 tablet might be the company’s long awaited response to the very popular Apple iPad, which continues to dominate the tablet market. However, aside from the photos, no other solid information was revealed about this tablet, but at least we have an idea of what it will look like. As seen on the early photos of this rumored tablet, you will surely notice that it is a thin quad-core tablet that comes with two switches on one side. Well, quad core tablets are expected to be more prevalent in the coming days and month. And it seems that the manufacturers are really trying their best efforts in order to come up with a new tablet device that could eventually beat Apple’s iPad.
Another interesting piece of information is the alleged gesture patent images that will be supported by Windows 8. These images are strongly suggesting that Microsoft’s future slate would be having a dual-screen form with focus on multi-screen input options such as: dual tap, hold and page-flip, pinch and expand, bookmark hold. Moreover, some were speculating that users would even have the ability to swap images between screens. Perhaps, Sony might be feeling the pressure, right now.

Knowing Microsoft’s reputation when it comes to operating systems, it is not really surprising at all of if they will be determined enough to come up with a Windows 8 tablet soon. According to New York Times, Microsoft is planning to unveil this rumored Windows 8 tablet in December 2011, but that seems to be incorrect since no Windows tablet was shown at the CES 2011 that has a possible availability of December 2011. However, there are also some speculations that the Windows 8 tablet might penetrate the market by 2012 or immediately after the CES 2012 event.
As of present, there are some rumors that Microsoft is already preparing to work on this upcoming Window’s 8 tablet that is expected to capture the huge market of business people and professionals. We expect that the Windows 8 tablet will be coming up with similar specifications like the iPad and expected to pose a threat to it, as well as Android tablets and Chrome OS netbooks.
