Now here’s the current dilemma some of our WP7 users are facing, particularly those who have obtained the Chveron WP7 updater and manage to get the NoDo un-officially. As you can see, Microsoft has just revealed today that those who used such 3rd-party tools won’t be able to get the Windows Phone 7 7392 update (a post-NoDo upgrade) via Zune.
Sure, it doesn’t sound like a problem. But the real issue arrives when MS reveals the WP7 Build 7394 (six months from now), which will discredit your phone to receive it. And the sad part? Microsoft doesn’t have any plans to help those who have tried to use any unofficial tools to obtain WP7 updates quicker.
Luckily, we have some 3rd party developers who are willing to spend some time decoding a way for you to get out on this mess. So far, they are working on a new “unofficial tool” meant to put your “unofficial phone” on the official path Microsoft only accepts. Likewise, we need to wait for this and pray that these developers won’t have a change of heart on releasing it.
As of the moment, we would like to ask your opinion if you think this decision of Microsoft is a bit “harsh”. If you have been following the news for the NoDo update, it took more than four months before users receive it, likewise, some would naturally find other ways to obtain it.
