At long last, after a trail of press release crumbs, Microsoft has officially dated the release of its successor to WinMo 6.5 OS, Windows Phone 7. The official unveiling will be held in London and at the Microsoft Technology Center in New York on October 11, 2010.

The show will include T-mobile reps to give actual phone demonstrations to the press. Here’s a promotional video from Microsoft showcasing the capabilities of the Windows Phone 7 and its Metro UI:
The possible new models for this are LG’s C900, Samsung’s Cetus i917 and HTC’s T8788 with Asus, Sony Ericsson, Toshiba and Dell coming down the line. As you can guess from the listed handsets, Microsoft wanted phones that had smartphone features such as camera, GPS, compass, proximity sensor, touch screen and an accelerometer to fully utilize their powerful new mobile OS.
AT&T and T-Mobile has both stepped up to the plate to show the new Mobile OS and accompanying handsets to the world. Both AT&T and T-Mobile will have Windows Phone 7 handsets in November, so this coincides with AT&T’s unveiling in London with T-Mobile launching in New York. The new mobile OS will be officially released to the public on November 8, 2010.
