As a fan of Microsoft, I was secretly waiting for Steve Ballmer to officially reveal its Windows Phone 7 smartphones which were earlier teased six months ago. Its operating system is fresh and it prioritizes more on the efficiency of communication rather than just be inundated about the apps. It’s very snappy all powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon processor. The UI experience of WP7 is something that’s unsullied and it brings me the feeling of class and elegance which kind of reminds you what a phone should really be.

The only problem though, just like the other critics are saying, is that the new windows phone 7 could already be too late. Thinking that right now we already have the Apple iOS4 and Android platform. Here at my place, all the people I knew holds one to two android or apple gadgets and they are very hone on using it. Needless to say, it might be too painful for them to just let it go away and try to pick another smartphone with a different platform like the Windows Phone 7.
Don’t get me wrong here, I really do want to have the Windows Phone 7 and I wouldn’t mind having it with my other smartphones but a normal buyer isn’t like that, some just want a single phone which can function efficiently. And if that individual already has an Android or Apple, then what’s the main point of buying another one?
Right now, the transition won’t be seen just yet. My best guesstimation is it will be around six months to one year before we see if the new WP7 smartphone is doing a mark on the smartphone world. Although my fear is that when that time finally arrives, the Windows Phone 7 platform will appear like that old-socks in the drawer just like the WebOS. Anyway, I do hope that won’t happen, because I certainly like the UI experience of this new smartphone.
