Microsoft is promising some major changes with its Windows Phone 8 (a.k.a. Apollo) OS. However, as of present we can’t still say whether the Windows Phone 8 will be making its way to any handset near you, but there are some details about it that has been revealed lately courtesy of some people at PocketNow. This site has actually managed to grab a copy of a video that features Windows Phone Manager Joe Belfiore talking about what is in store with the upcoming Apollo platform. So what does this new OS version promises us?

According to the said video, the WP8 Apollo will be including these features:
- Apollo will add support for multicore processors
- new screen resolution
- removable microSD storage
- supports NFC radios
- integration with the desktop Zune client
- camera app now supports “lenses” which allow third parties to skin and add features to camera interface
- includes support for proprietary
- proxy server will compress websites in Internet Explorer 10 up to 30 percent
- Xbox Companion app will get Windows 8 partner client
- with preferential treatment to WiFi and allows automatic connection to carrier-owned hotspots

One of the main features of this new OS version is DataSmart, which aims to reduce and simplify the tracking of data usage. In addition to the ability of providing a breakdown of data consumption, the new Windows OS 8 will also attempt to give Wi-Fi connections and connect to carrier WLANs within a certain range. Another interesting thing about the Windows Phone 8 OS is the fact that it will be using a proxy server to feed pages to Internet Explorer 10 that will help users out there to reduce the amount of data required to view websites.
Well, it seems that this new OS version is promising a lot of things to its users. But of course, we still have to wait and see how this OS really operated once it hit our favorite handsets in the coming months. Microsoft has not yet made any final announcement yet so let us just wait for more details.
