Ten years ago, you wouldn’t even consider Google to beat Yahoo as the biggest search engine on the planet. Fast forwarding to the present day, the company co-founded by Jerry Yan is now on the slump and the only means for it to survive is either buy profitable startup companies and raise it lucratively or be bought by Microsoft or Facebook. With that in mind, it won’t be so hard anymore to think about Yahoo getting some juices with its former arch-nemesis to profit.
As of today, a new “Yahoo Phone” is currently being served on Japan which is not really a surprise since its JP’s No.1 website based on Alexa. The interesting part comes with its specs, which is based from Sharp AQUOS 009SH running Android Gingerbread along with a 4-inch qHD display (touchscreen), 8MP shooter camera, microSDHC, internal storage, WiFi & Bluetooth support and has “e-wallet” capability which is similar to NFC but not NFC. Got that?
The reason why it’s called the Yahoo Phone is because it comes preloaded with the website’s related application like Yahoo.jp home page, Auctions, calendar, dictionary, not mentioned though if it has Yahoo Messenger or Music! It will support Sofbank – Jap’s third largest network carrier – and its previous customers will be able to get this phone for free under a 2-year contract plan along with other goodies to bag (point system) on every purchase you made on Yahoo Shopping under the span of the carrier agreement.
So what do you think about Yahoo and Google’s Android working together?
