If you’re looking for new and upcoming electronics then you better go to Mobile World Congress. From the popular-branded devices to new players in the industry, they are all packed in this event. One interesting line of smartphone gadgetry comes from Chinese-based ZTE. Check out the ZTE Amigo and ZTE Blade.

First off is the side-sliding ZTE Amigo. It is an Android powered smartphone that comes in with a full-QWERTY keyboard. It stands at the lower end of the smartphone spectrum because of its build quality. Some of its features are:
- Sports a 3.2 inch capacitive HVGA touch screen display
- Android 2.2 OS
- 3.15 MP camera (2048 x 1536)
- Tri-band GSM
- HSPA Support
- GPRS / EDGE support
- MicroSD support
- Bluetooth v2.1
- Micro USB 2.0
- SMS, Email, IM
- FM radio
- Built-in GPS
- Weighs 120 g
The software runs smoothly and the slider keyboard seems firm and solid. Overall, it’s a mediocre-type of smartphone that can do most your mobile needs. It will probably be available by Q2 of 2011. Price is TBA.

Next is the slab-styled ZTE Blade smartphone which looks better than the Amigo. It is also known as “Orange San Francisco” in Europe which was already released on September last year. It previously used Android 2.1 but during MWC it’s already running on Android 2.2 OS. We’re also unsure if it will have Tri band or Quad band GSM (probably been upgraded as well).
See more features below (taken from Orange San Francisco model):
